The European Stone Festival, which travels to a different city in Europe each year, is taking place in 2017 from 19 to 21 May in Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary.

The Festival usually has a good representation from the UK and in 2016 was won for the third time by UK entrant Alex Wenham – click on the PDF below to read his report from the 2016 event.

If you want to be part of the 2017 event, The Kossuth Lajos Street in Kiskunfélegyháza provides the perfect setting. There, participants in the Festival will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity to a wide audience. The organisers this time are from the National Association of Stonemasons & Artificial Stone Producers – Hungary and the city of Kiskunfélegyháza administration. They expect to welcome more than 130 stonemasons and carvers from all over the world.

The first European Stone Festival in 1999, conceived by Germany's Freiburg Technical College for Stonemasonry & Stone Carving, took place at the college in Freiburg. Since then it has grown in popularity and been hosted by many different European cities, including Canterbury and Lincoln in the UK. The festival is taking place in Hungary this year for the second time. The first time was in 2004.

If you want to take part, you can register online now at www.stein-festival.de
