Freiburg Technical College in Germany is again staging an international contest for stonemasons and sculptors. Entries are invited from across Europe for the competition of the weekend of 28-30 June.

Participants will be provided with a block of sandstone and will be expected to complete a set task. Tasks will be allocated according to experience (stonemasons or sculptors).

The competition will take place around the picturesque village of Freiburg, which is in the Rhine valley at the foot of the Black Forest mountains. The village is renowned for its excellent wines, plenty of which will be available.

Participants wifi have a maximum of 18 hours (Saturday/Sunday) to complete the task and should bring their own tools.

The entry fee - including meals, accommodation (although you have to bring your own ground sheet and sleeping bag) and the chance to participate in the evening entertainment - is Ä35 (£22).
