Pawson Bros to go

Six years after Pawson Bros Ltd, one-time operators of Britannia Quarries, went into Administration, the company is to be wound up.

Mr E C Wetton, of chartered accountants Gibson Booth in Barnsley, was appointed the Administrator in May 1995.

A year after Pawsons went into Administration, the operation of Britannia Quarries, producers of Woodkirk York stone, was taken over by York Stone Products.

York Stone Products were dramatically locked out of the quarry by the landowner, Neil Pullan, in June 1998 after he had spent £2million on improvements that included new stone processing machinery.

Wetton said then he had expected to have wound up Pawson Bros by that time but that there were still two outstanding matters to resolve.

In a letter to creditors now he says he intends to request the Court to appoint him as Liquidator. In due course and after a substantive hearing he anticipates a Winding Up Order will be made.
