Sign of the Times

Signs marking out the national cycle route and pedestrian routes through Belfast have been incorporated into the granite paving, thanks to Pomery Natural stone of Slough, Berkshire.

The cycle and pedestrian routes run through Hanover Quay and along Laganbank Road, where the Laganbank Corporation is redeveloping this part of the city. The architects are The Paul Hogarth Company, who wanted signs inlaid into the paved surfaces to reduce the clutter caused by signs on poles.

Creating the signs was a new departure for Pomery Natural Stone, but they have now set up an engraving and sandblasting division to supply customers with signage, commemorative plaques and stone features of all types.
