Income shifting set to be banned

The common practice in small firms of transferring income from one person to another, usually a spouse, to make the most of tax allowances could be brought to an end in April.

In December a document Income shifting: a consultation on draft legislation was published by the treasury. PDFs can be downloaded from the website below. The consultation period ends on 28 February.
