Cumbrian stone company Burlington are continuing to find a market for their stone in America and have now supplied their olive green honed Bursting Stone for the entrance lobby of a 15,000m2 office development in Austin, Texas.

The Bursting Stone was one of the stones specified by architects at Susman Tisdale Gayle. The decision to use Burlington\'s stone resulted both from the client having recently used it in his own new house and the architect\'s long standing appreciation of its aesthetic and technical properties.

A spokesperson for Susman Tisdale Gayle said: "As designers, we have long admired Burlington\'s stone for its intensity, unusual textures, density and simple elegance. We were elated to work with a client who shares our enthusiasm for Burlington\'s natural stone palette and product range."

The Riata Gateway building comprises two office buildings joined by a two-storey communal lobby, which is where 300m2 of Bursting Stone has been installed in a random running bond pattern.

It is set within a 3m x 3m grid of thin satin aluminium accent bands with a repeat of limestone bands integrated within the floor bringing the landscaped exterior paths into each side of the lobby.
