Alex Stark, a stalwart elder statesman of the stone industry in Scotland, has died after a short illness. Alex spent most of his working life at W & J R Watson in Edinburgh (latterly Watson Stonecraft and after that the assets became part of Land Engineering). Alex did a mountain of work for Stone Federation Great Britain in Scotland, for a long time presenting the Scottish Region reports at the AGMs – usually the longest reports of the AGMs. He was made an Honorary Member of the Federation in 2012. He did so much to promote apprentice training in Scotland.
