Bomber Command Memorial opened by The Queen

On 28 June The Queen unveiled the new memorial to those who died flying bombers in World War II. At the heart the memorial is a bronze sculpture by Philip Jackson showing seven bomber air crew 1.5-times life size housed in a classical Portland limestone structure designed by architect Liam O'Connor and built by S McConnel & Son of Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.

The project is featured in the July issue of the Natural Stone Specialist magazine.
