Software to help small firms

With the Health, Safety, Ethical & Environmental Executive (HSE) currently targeting stonemasons in relation to hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) and dust levels in workshops it pays to be up-to-date on health and safety in the workplace. And the HSE is there to help.

They, in collaboration with the Royal & Sun Alliance, have published Essentials of health and safety routemap, a computer programme designed specifically for small businesses to help improve Health, Safety, Ethical & Environmental awareness.

Accidents at work and work-related illnesses cost Britain as much as £18billion a year in lost production time - that\'s £600 per working person. As Timothy Walker, director-general of the HSE, says, making the workplace healthy and safe costs money, but not doing it costs more.
