Dust extraction course by HSL, 31 January, Buxton, Derbyshire
Poorly controlled exposure to dust and fumes causes a lot of work-related ill-health each year. It is one of main areas of concern in the government's new Health at Work programme published in December.
Local exhaust ventilation (LEV, or dust extraction) is the most common method of controlling workers' exposure to such airborne contaminants. Unfortunately it is often not effective enough.
Employers can be misled by suppliers and select and install LEV controls that don't work and/or cost too much. Once installed, LEV controls are often poorly checked, maintained, examined and used.
This course from the Health & Safety Laboratory will cover...
The course will demonstrate how to successfully manage LEV controls in order to get effective, efficient, and reliable control of airborne contaminants, at least cost. This course is British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) endorsed.
