The NSC is an educational charity established in 1983 on a 50-acre former quarry site with the object of promoting a better public understanding of the quarrying and stone industry, both aggregate and dimensional sectors.

Aims to improve fireplace design, manufacture and installation and to maintain close liaison with allied trades. The Association's membership includes firms manufacture and retail fires and fireplaces of stone, marble, brick or slate.

Membership of manufacturers of terrazzo and marble tiles and precast terrazzo stair units. Also layers of terrazzo, mosaic, granite and marble and ceramic tiles. Associate members supply plant and materials used in these trades.

Founded 1897. Has the objective of promoting and safeguarding the skills and activities of its members who specialise in fine architectural carving, lettering and other work.

Historic Buildings & Places, previously known as the Ancient Monuments Society, works to sustain, defend and promote all aspects of the built historic environment, for the benefit of all. Founded in 1924, it is one of the National Amenity Societies and champions historic buildings and places of all ages and all types.

Aims to protect, sustain and improve access to the historic environment of Wales, including historic buildings, monuments and landascapes.

Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) or Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) in Stonemasonry. Most candidates start on an Intermediate Apprenticeship and progress to the Advanced Level although the level may be determined by the role in the workplace and previous qualifications.

A renowned centre for specialist study, West Dean College offers an inspiring year-round programme of degrees, short courses and conservation CPD including historic building conservation and repair, coatings and consolidates for masonry and masonry cleaning. Courses are conducted in exceptionally well-designed and equipped workshops by tutors who are practitioners and cater for all levels of ability.

The Orton Trust organises weekend courses for stonemasons at its workshop. The subjects covered are Masonry skills, restoration and memorial carving, lettering and the use of lime mortars, drystone walling.

The school provides diploma/degree and post-graduate degree courses in architectural stone carving, ornamental wood carving, conservation studies, fine art painting and sculpture together with part-time courses in stone carving, wood carving, gilding and letter carving.
